La Fornaca is the ancient name for a location that is home to one of the best-preserved archaeological sites in the region. The site has been known of since 1949. The Vilassar archaeological group excavated a Roman kiln which had been located on the old Matarà route. From 2002, the Vilassar de Dalt (Catalonia, Spain) town council promoted archaeological excavation. This work led to the discovery of two further kilns. Within a few metres, a silo, a rubbish drump and a well were also found. This discovery was followed up by and archaeological magnetic analysis of the kilns, which confirmed their roman origins.
